To my fellow immigrants and the beautiful undocumented community,
In times like these, when uncertainty and fear try to overshadow our resilience, I want to remind each and every one of us of our strength, our courage, and our unbreakable spirit. We come from a legacy of hard work, love, and cultural richness that no policy or challenge can erase.
As a proud Mexican-American, I stand with you. Our contributions, our stories, and our dreams are woven into the very fabric of this nation. We are the heartbeat of our communities, and our presence is powerful. Let’s continue to lift each other up, share our stories, and hold our heads high.
We belong, we matter, and together, we will continue to thrive.
Six months ago, I did something that scared me and freed me all at once — I quit my job.
I walked away from five years of being an office manager. From the steady checks, the daily structure, and the comfort of knowing what to expect. It wasn’t because I had another job lined up… it was because I had a vision I couldn’t ignore.
It was wild. It was risky. And it didn’t make sense to a lot of people…
Pero yo sabía — I was made for more.
What they don’t always tell you about chasing your dreams is that sometimes…
you have to sacrifice comfort to climb the mountain.
A veces tienes que dejarte al último, para poder construir algo más grande.
You work late. You show up tired. You bet on yourself over and over, even when it’s hard.
You go through moments of “¿qué estoy haciendo?” — but somehow, you keep going.
Because when the dream is real, el corazón no te deja rendirte.
Now, almost six months later, I’m still on the roller coaster — but I’m building something real.
Something con propósito. Con coraje. Con alma.
And no, I’m not at the top yet — but I’m on the mountain, mija. And that matters.
To every mujer holding a dream and wondering if she’s crazy for wanting more —
You’re not.
You’re called.
And you’re capable.
You just have to believe that what you’re building is bigger than what you’re leaving behind.
Being a woman in business isn’t just about ambition — it’s about aguante.
It’s showing up when you’re tired. Starting over when things flopped. Staying the course cuandonadie te aplaude. And still having the courage to say, “Yo creo en lo que estoy construyendo.”
That’s where tenacity comes in — the grit, the fire, that fierce no me rajo energy. It’s the part of you that doesn’t quit, even when the doubt creeps in or your circle gets quiet. Tenacity is the voice that says, “I’ll figure it out” even when you’re navigating sinmapa.
But tenacity alone isn’t enough — you also need consistency.
The daily actions that feel small but stack up to something massive. That email, that follow-up, that IG post you put out even when you’re drained — that’s what builds credibilidad. For us, consistency is more than strategy… it’s survival. It’s how we show we’re serious in rooms that weren’t made for us.
And then comes resilience — la armadura we carry quietly.
Resilience is what lets you bounce back after the no’s, the losses, the failed launches, the shade. It’s what whispers, “Esto no me rompe — me forma.” Because let’s be real — as mujeres, we are often expected to carry it all and make it look easy. But resilience? It’s not about pretending it’s not hard — it’s about moving through it with gracia y coraje.
Together, these traits don’t just make you a good businesswoman — they make you una jefaimparable.
A woman who doesn’t wait for permission.
A mujer who can take a slow season and turn it into a strategy shift.
A woman who knows that growth isn’t always viral or visible — sometimes it’s quiet, steady, and deeply powerful.
So if you’re out here building something — even if it feels messy, pesado, or slow — remember this:
Being a first-generation Mexican American means you carry two worlds on your shoulders: the one you come from and the one you’re trying to build.
We didn’t inherit trust funds, properties, or portfolios. What we inherited was hustle, resilience, and the pressure to break cycles — even when we didn’t have a blueprint. While some peers grew up learning about credit, investments, or college prep, many of us were translating paperwork for our parents and figuring it out as we went.
Generational wealth? We weren’t born into it — we’re trying to create it.
That means we’re often the first in our families to own a business, buy a home, go to college, or even understand what “financial freedom” really means. And that’s not a small thing — it’s a heavy, sacred responsibility. We’re not just building wealth; we’re building legacy — so our children, and their children, don’t have to start from zero like we did.
But let’s be real: it’s not easy.
We face systems that weren’t built for us. We deal with financial trauma, limited access to resources, and the guilt of growing beyond what our families ever had. And on top of that? We’re often expected to carry others as we climb.
But we still do it — con coraje y corazón.
Every side hustle, every late night, every dollar saved is an act of rebellion and love. We are planting roots in ground that was never watered for us, and we’re doing it anyway — because we know our children deserve to stand on more than survival. They deserve to stand on legacy.
So if you’ve ever felt tired, overwhelmed, or like you’re not doing enough — just remember: you are the foundation. And you’re doing something your ancestors only dreamed of.
Keep going, Jefa. You’re not behind — you’re just breaking ground.
Hey everyone, I’m reaching out with something somewhat different from my usual posts but I feel it is something deeply and incredibly urgent.
My beautiful friend, Crystal Gibb, is in need of a kidney transplant—and time is of the essence.
She’s a daughter, a mother, a friend, a fighter, and someone who lights up every room she walks into. But behind that light is a battle she didn’t choose. Her kidneys are failing, and her only chance at a healthy, full life is through a living donor.
You don’t have to be a superhero to save a life—just someone with a kind heart and a healthy kidney.
Here’s what you should know:
• You only need one kidney to live a healthy, full life. • The testing process is free, safe, and confidential.
• Crystal’s insurance covers the screenings and the surgery itself! • Her blood type is O+, but there are programs that allow for paired donation—so even if you’re not a match, you could still help her get a kidney.
A word from Crystal:
About 4 years ago I noticed swelling in my feet, so I went to the doctor and we initially thought my heart. I was put on medication and nothing helped. May of 2022 I was hospitalized for 7 days and that’s when it was discovered I have stage 2 chronic kidney disease. I was also diagnosed with severe gastroparesis. The CKD progressed into stage 5 “End Stage Kidney Failure” on January 1st 2024, my son saved my life, I was placed on emergency dialysis. I have been doing dialysis treatments 3 days a week, 4 hours each treatment ever since. I will not be able to live without these treatments. The machine I am placed on is essentially my kidneys. If I miss treatments my body can fill with fluid and it can be deadly. I have to watch what I eat and am only allowed to drink 32oz a day. With a kidney transplant I will have life. I will be able to travel. I will be able to drink as much water as I want! I want and deserve time with my son! I deserve a life not connected to a machine!
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could do something that truly matters,” this is it.
Please share, pray, or consider stepping forward if you’re able. You might just be the miracle she’s been waiting for.
For more info or to start the screening process, please contact Crystal directly: Crystal’s Facebook
I’ve always said baking is an art that not many people are skilled in. It requires exact measurements and a special touch to create magic with dough.
But those people that can take baking a step further by sculpting and customizing their pastries to look like the real deal- those people have a special gift that compares to very little things in the creative world!

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Being the first-born, first-generation American in my family has been a journey of immense pride, but also one confronted with unique challenges. It’s a tightrope walk between honoring my heritage and embracing a new culture, a balancing act that often feels like straddling two different worlds. This is my story, and the story of so many others like me.
The Weight of Expectations
One of the biggest pressures I faced was the expectation to succeed. My parents, who sacrificed everything to come to America, instilled in me a profound sense of responsibility. Their dreams became my goals. This pressure, while motivating, often felt overwhelming. Every grade, every job application, every decision felt monumental because it wasn’t just about me; it was about honoring their sacrifices.
Cultural Identity: A Constant Negotiation
Growing up, I was in a constant limbo with my cultural identity. At home, I was immersed in my family’s traditions, language, and values. Outside, I was surrounded by American culture. It felt like living a double life. I often felt caught in between, not fully belonging to either world.
There were times when I felt embarrassed by my family’s costumbres. I wanted to fit in, to be like everyone else. But as I grew older, I began to appreciate the richness of my heritage. I realized that my cultural background was not a burden, but a gift – a unique perspective that enriched my life.
Bridging the Gap: The Translator & Teacher
As the first-born, I often served as a translator and cultural guide for my family. I helped them navigate the complexities of American society, from understanding medical bills to filling out government forms. It was a huge responsibility, and sometimes a frustrating one. I was essentially an adult from a young age, burdened with responsibilities that my peers didn’t have.
I recall countless hours spent on the phone with customer service representatives, translating documents, and explaining cultural nuances to my mom. While it was challenging, it also gave me a sense of purpose. I was contributing to building a better life in America, and that was something to be proud of.
Finding Strength in Shared Expereinces
The journey of a first-born, first-generation American is not easy. There are moments of doubt, frustration, and even resentment. But it’s also a journey of immense growth, resilience, and pride. We are the bridges between two cultures, the pioneers navigating uncharted territory. And we are not alone. There is strength in shared experiences, in knowing that there are others who understand the unique challenges and triumphs of walking two worlds.
Being a first-born, first-generation American is a complex tapestry woven with threads of hope, expectation, and cultural negotiation. It is a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and ultimately, pride in the unique identity we forge.
Navigating life between two different cultures has shaped me into the person I am today, and I will always be thankful for the privilege I have of living between two beautiful worlds.
Being a mom is a full-time job. Being a jefa is also a full-time job. So, what happens when you try to do both? You get a unique set of challenges that require a superhero-level of resilience, resourcefulness, and maybe a little bit of caffeine.
This post is dedicated to all the mompreneurs out there, bravely building businesses while raising the next generation. I see you, I salute you, and I’m here to offer some support and strategies to help you thrive.
The Triple Threat: Time, Expectations, and Emotions
Let’s dive into the most common challenges faced by momma entrepreneurs:
Time. It’s the most precious commodity, and mompreneurs often feel like they’re running on empty. Between school drop-offs, client meetings, diaper changes, and networking events, it’s a constant battle to carve out time for everything. The guilt of not spending enough time with your kids while also feeling behind on your business goals is a heavy burden.
Time Management
Finding enough hours in the day
Juggling work, childcare, and personal time
Dealing with unexpected interruptions
Societal Expectations
Feeling pressure to be the ‘perfect’ mom and the ‘perfect’ entrepreneur
Facing judgement from others who don’t understand the lifestyle
Struggling with the ‘mommy wars’ and different parenting philosophies
Society often places unrealistic expectations on mothers. You’re expected to be nurturing, selfless, and always available. Add entrepreneurship to the mix, and you’re suddenly expected to be a savvy businesswoman, a marketing genius, and a financial wizard all at the same time. The pressure to conform to these impossible standards can be overwhelming.
Emotional Toll
Dealing with guilt, anxiety, and burnout
Feeling isolated and unsupported
Struggling to maintain a sense of identity outside of motherhood and entrepreneurship
Juggling the demands of motherhood and entrepreneurship can take a significant emotional toll. The constant pressure to succeed, the fear of failure, and the lack of sleep can lead to burnout, anxiety, and feelings of isolation. It’s crucial to prioritize your mental and emotional well-being to avoid these pitfalls.
Strategies for Success: Thriving as a Mompreneur
Okay, so the challenges are real. But that doesn’t mean success is impossible. Here are some strategies to help you navigate the motherhood maze and achieve your entrepreneurial goals:
Embrace Imperfection: Let go of the idea of being perfect. It’s okay if the laundry piles up or if you miss a school event. Focus on what truly matters and prioritize accordingly.
Time Blocking is Your Friend: Schedule your day in blocks, allocating specific times for work, family, and self-care. Treat these blocks as non-negotiable appointments.
Outsource and Delegate: Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Hire a virtual assistant, a babysitter, or a cleaning service to free up your time and energy.
Build a Support System: Connect with other mompreneurs who understand your struggles. Join online communities, attend networking events, or find a mentor who can offer guidance and support.
Prioritize Self-Care: Schedule regular self-care activities, such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. Taking care of yourself is not selfish; it’s essential for your well-being and your success.
Set Realistic Goals: Don’t try to do everything at once. Set small, achievable goals that you can realistically accomplish. Celebrate your successes, no matter how small.
Involve Your Children (When Appropriate): Find age-appropriate ways to involve your children in your business. This can teach them valuable skills and give them a sense of ownership.
Learn to Say No: Protect your time and energy by saying no to commitments that don’t align with your priorities.
Embrace Flexibility: Be prepared to adapt your plans as needed. Life with kids is unpredictable, so flexibility is key.
Celebrate Your Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate your accomplishments, both big and small. You’re doing an amazing job!
Final Thoughts
Being a mompreneur is not for the faint of heart. It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding journey. By embracing imperfection, prioritizing self-care, and building a strong support system, you can navigate the motherhood maze and achieve your entrepreneurial dreams. Remember, you are not alone, and your unique perspective and experiences are valuable assets in the business world. Keep going, jefa! You’ve got this.
